How to make a giant bubble!

Looking to add a splash of fun to your next birthday party? Here's our step-by-step guide to making these enormous bubbles using simple household ingredients.

What You’ll Need:

  • Empty containers: You'll need these to store your bubble solution.

  • 2ft Inflatable Pool: This will hold your bubble solution when you're ready to use it.

  • Hula Hoop: Make sure it's small enough to fit in the pool. We ended up just using black piping that we had in the garage from Home Depot. It worked just fine and we could make it whatever size we wanted.

  • String: This will be used to wrap around the hoop.

  • 12 Cups of Water: The base of your bubble mixture.

  • 1 Cup of Dawn Dish Soap: This soap works best for big bubbles.

  • 2 Tablespoons of Glycerin (or corn syrup): This helps the bubbles last longer. We used corn syrup because it was easier to find and cheaper.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Wrap the Hula Hoop: Start by wrapping string around the hula hoop. This helps the bubble solution cling to it, making it easier to create giant bubbles.

  2. Mix the Bubble Solution: In a large container, combine 12 cups of water, 1 cup of Dawn dish soap, and 2 tablespoons of glycerin or corn syrup. Stir gently to avoid creating foam, which can weaken your bubbles.

  3. Prepare the Pool: Pour the bubble solution into your inflatable pool. Make sure there’s enough solution to submerge the hula hoop.

  4. Create the Bubbles: Have someone stand in the middle of the pool. Place the hula hoop into the solution, ensuring it’s fully submerged. Slowly lift the hula hoop over their head to form a giant bubble around them.

  5. Perfect Your Technique: The key to making a perfect giant bubble is lifting the hula hoop slowly and steadily. If done right, you’ll create a bubble so big it can enclose a person!

Pro Tips:

  • Let the bubble solution sit for a few hours before using it. This allows the ingredients to mix thoroughly, creating stronger bubbles.

  • The best bubbles are made on a day with low wind. Too much wind can pop the bubbles before they fully form.

Giant bubbles are a fun and easy way to add some extra magic to any outdoor gathering. Whether it’s a birthday party or just a sunny day at the park, these bubbles will surely be the highlight of the day.
